There are 3 different bays – Chicken bay, Gun bay, Devil’s bay – which probably are the most known surfing locations in the island. The whole beachfront of the area is exposed to the strong winds, which mostly blow in the area.
Chicken bay (Makris Gialos) is primarily recommended for the beginners, the bay is ideal for the needs of rookies and children. The winds are significantly weaker here, do not expect strongly breezes. The cove has sandy and shallow waters.
If you are experienced, you can try the next bay, which is called Gun Bay. There are usually much stronger winds and it’s not recommended for beginners. The calm waters delivers great conditions in this cove, and makes it good for intermediate level experiences.
Devil’s bay (Vatha) is for hardcore surfers and professionals. The winds are more stronger than in Gun Bay, numerous professional windsurfers enjoy the speed and the wind conditions here.
