The Blue Bay Hotel, with traditional Karpathian architecture!
Blue Bay Hotel was opened in 1990 and has been built with traditional Karpathian architecture and decor. It is situated on the outskirts of Karpathos Town and is just 50m from the white sandy beach, which spans for more than 2km in length.
First impressions on entering Blue Bay are warmth and friendship .The bar/lounge and reception area is wood paneled and decorated in true Karpathian style. The breakfast area which is situated on the mezzanine floor is also wood panelled, and open with a view of the sea.
Being a family owned and operated hotel, there is a welcoming warm atmosphere at all times. Nikos the manager and his wife Agnus and son Manolis ,Nick the bartender and Evelina the swimming pool snack bar tender are great hosts. We have a fantastic pool bar where everyone gets together for an afternoon drink and snack until the pool bar closes,which is 18:00.The guests then, whether they are hotel guests or visitors passing by come and sit at the hotel bar terrace for drinks or coffees where the hotel serves light and refreshing complimentary snacks.There really is a great atmosphere where people are laughing and smiling all the time.If you are around and about please feel free to join us ,everyone is more than welcome.
The Hotel is a 10-15 minute walk away from the town center and 800m from the local Hospital. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel are restaurants, 3 mini markets, and rent a car/bike shops. There is a supermarket 850m away as well. Also, newspapers etc. are available in the vicinity.
Dining Area
Our dining area seats 60 people per sitting and is located in the front mezzanine. All wood paneled with Karpathian decor and a view of the sea.
A rich buffet breakfast is included in the price of the rooms. Breakfast is different every day, and is self service. Members of the family creating a friendly warm atmosphere where guests become friends and not just a room number.
The dining area can also be used as a banquet facility for meetings, reunions, conventions, etc. should this be required.
Bar
Blue Bay’s Bar, surely having one of the greatest reputations of Hotel Bars on Karpathos.
Starting in 1990, the early years….. Blue Bay’s bar was one of the very few available here in Karpathos. And therefore is a Hotel Bar where great memories and parties have taken place. Serving coffee, drinks and draught beer. Your more than welcome to come join Nick and the gang for a round or two.
Today we provide the same service, music and atmosphere for our hotel guests to enjoy a night of drinking and fun.
Rooms
One of our 42 rooms at the Blue Bay. Here is our typical 2 person room with a view towards the rear (pool) area.
Again built in Karpathian style, these rooms have beautiful balconies and an unforgettable island view. 9 of our rooms are apartments (3 person), which consist of 2 rooms seperated by a small passage & bathroom. Each room has it’s own balcony. There are sea view rooms, pool view rooms and sea/mountain view rooms. All rooms have been refurbished in 2000.
All of our rooms come with music, hairdryer, telephone, and TV (2 Greek, BBC, CNN), also to mention that the rooms are cleaned everyday except sundays and towels are freshly cleaned everyday and again except sundays.
2 Person: 1 balcony, private bathroom, can be rented as single.
3 Person: 2 balconies, 2 views, 2 rooms, private bathroom, corner room, fridge included
Swimming Pool
Blue Bay has a beautiful sparkling blue swimming pool and also a small childrens pool.
Our in-ground swimming pool is 20m x 10m with a diving board and stairs for your convience. A large stone tiled deck surrounds the swimming area with patio chairs for you to read a book, or sleep the afternoon away. There is a childrens playground adjoining the pool area where children can entertain themselves while parents relax in the sun.
We have a fantastic pool bar where everyone gets together for an afternoon drink and snack and when the pool bar closes which is 18:00. The guests then,whether they are hotel guests or visitors passing by come and sit at the hotel bar terrace for drinks or coffees where the hotel serves light and refreshing snacks on the house(snacks are free of charge).There really is a great atmosphere people laughing and smiling all the time.
Pool bar hours are from 10:00am – 6:00pm, when the main bar opens from 6:00pm – 1:00am.
